Swara Yoga is an ancient Tantric science that goes far beyond common breathing exercises. Where technique-based practices regulate the breath, Swara Yoga studies the flow of prana through the nostrils, in relation to the rhythms of the cosmos and the body.
Personal and group sessions are available, alongside structured workshops — five fixed sessions of Swara yoga, three of breathwork — covering asanas, body-cleansing practices and philosophy.
For those who want to go deeper, 1, 3 and 5-day retreats in Rishikesh bring Swara, Hatha and Ashtanga yoga together with Shat karma kriyas, a Ganga bath, daily kirtans, satvic food and stay, and Agnihotra — the five-element cleansing fire ritual.
Prana moves through the body along thousands of subtle channels, or nadis. Three are central to Swara Yoga: Ida and Pingala, the lunar and solar channels that spiral around the spine and surface at the left and right nostril, and Sushumna, the central channel they wind around.
Each of the seven chakras sits along this central channel — a point where the subtle body's energy gathers and can be observed, balanced, and, through practice, cleansed. Swara Yoga is the discipline of reading which nostril is dominant at any moment, and using that awareness to bring Ida and Pingala into balance.
